REEL FORCES: Reflections of humanity, memory, and conflict Kick-off Oscars weekend with an evening of the meta, the miniscule, and the far-reaching as Musiqa celebrates experimental film and live music. “Reel Forces” examines the traces of humanity, memory, and conflict through “Beyond Zero: 1914-1918,” a moving and mesmerizing film of rare WWI archival footage by auteur-director Bill Morrison, and scored for string quartet by Aleksandra Vrebalov. The final concert of the In Concert series on May 4, “The Wrestler,” features the world premiere of Erberk Eryılmaz’s Koca Yusuf, Wrestling Airs for Chamber Orchestra, written in memory of Koca Yusuf, an internationally famous, 19th century Turkish wrestler who instigated a riot when he threw an opponent out of a ring during a match at the Metropolitan Opera House in New York in 1898.
